WOMEN'S FOCUS GROUP:

t's been a successful and busy year for the Women's Focus Group. By the time this goes
to print, we will be celebrating the afterglow of our wonderful Halloween Party and gearing up
for Christmas festivities. The election of officers for the Women's Focus Group was completed
in November. Jill Roberts has stepped into the position of President, Monica Watson is Vice
President, Joan Anderson is Secretary and Laura Lampys is Treasurer.

We are grateful for our past President, Corinne Gomez who has completed two terms.
Our annual Christmas Party andsmall gift exchange will be held this year at Bridget Muradian's lovely decorated home on
Saturday, December 5. All women are invited to this fun and festive way to end our year.

Once again we are helping the Coalition for the Homeless by filling Santa Bags, which
are given to the men and women spending the night at the cold weather shelter on Christmas Eve.
Majority of the guests are men so requesting more man-geared bags or generic than in the past.
Items for the bags can be treats, socks, hygiene items, writing equipment, puzzle books, hats,
gloves, etc. Please indicate on the bag if it is for a man, woman or generic. Bags need to be
returned to the church the Sunday before Christmas.


Our annual women's mini retreat will be held Saturday, January 23, from 9 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. with a continental breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. in Harmony Hall. This is a day of sharing,
laughter, eating (breakfast and lunch), a wonderful raffle (save those treasurers you want to part
with and bring them along), surprises, and just a day to be together. Cost for the day is $25 for
pre-registration, and $30 at the door on the day of the event. Sign-up sheets will be out beginning
in January. Come dressed for comfort and if that means jammies and fuzzy slippers, wear them.


This year we are adding to our outreach to others by providing a dinner on Sunday,
February 28, for the homeless spending the night at the cold weather shelter, which will be at
Sacred Heart Church here in Covina that evening. Many volunteers will be needed to prepare
dinner for 250, prepare plates, serve plates, be runners, man the shower line and used clothing
area, take down tables and chairs and set up cots for the night, as well as prepare sack lunches to
be taken with them the following morning. Have your family join you for this evening and extend
the love of our church to those in our communities. Sign up sheets will be out in January. We
will also be having some fund raisers to raise money to purchase the food and other supplies we
will be needing. We will also be collecting clothing, especially men's clothing, for the clothes closet.

"Sunday Flowers"

Do you have a special occasion to celebrate?

Perhaps a loved one's birthday, wedding, graduation or anniversary. Or maybe you just want to beautiful your home because you deserve to live in beauty. You can do all this and share the beauty with your church family. Simply donate the church flowers on a Sunday and after service the bouquet is yours to take home or give as a gift to someone. All you have to do is order the flowers in advance.

There is a flower calendar in Harmony hall for your request. You can write your request on the calendar months in advance and then pay a week or two before the service.
